Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh seems to be enjoying being the first official state guest of US President Barack Obama. However, he has conveniently forgotten the way the US president had sought Chinese help in maintaining peace in South Asia (sic).
The inicident happened just days ahead of the PMs visit to the US. Is the PM planning to raise these strategic concerns with the US? It doesn't seem so as there are no plans to discuss the threats being faced by India from China, Pakistan or militancy being sponsored by these nations.
The US keenness to involve China in the politics of South Asia has changed the entire strategic percention in the government circles as the MEA mandarins have again proven their inefficiency in diplomatic skills. Though China had been covertly maintaing a heavy strategic presence in the region, this recent US go-ahead will only emboldne it and make things more difficult for India.
