Indian politicians will go to any length to secure that extra vote. And with two important states of Bihar and West Bengal going to polls soon the politicians have decided to demand additional pay and perks for Imams. The move its a direct conspiracy to consolidate the votes of the Muslim community at the cost of others.
What in hell is the business of the government to pay salary and perks to a religious leader or priest. Why doesn't the government do the same for priests in temples and institutions of other religions.
India is a secular country and it should remain so. Which means executive and religion should be kept apart. See the case of France, though the other extreme and not being supported by me, they have decided to take extreme steps to keep the two apart.
Please don't do this for a few votes, it will ruin the country.

madani vs amit shah
This is how the police and political class functions in India. They are willing to put the country's integrity at stake to get a few more votes. Finally Abdul Nasser Madani was arrested today, after days of posturing by the alleged terrorist. The state government played perfectly to the gallery, in an attempt to gain more Muslim votes. The Gujarat government also tried to do so but was shouted down by the hoarse media. I am not justifying the alleged acts of Amit Shah, but media should also question Madani and Kerala government's intent in shielding him.
